Greetings Welcome to the Australasian Bat Society (ABS) discussion list, the mailing list for members of the ABS. Only financial members can gain access to this list. This introductory message contains important information about the ABS list and should be saved in a safe place with a really clear and obvious filename so you can find it again. Before we get to the general information, here's a very important bit of info you'll probably need sooner or later: How to subscribe or unsubscribe from ABS list: Goto URL: http://listserv.csu.edu.au/mailman/listinfo/abs (this page - see below) and follow the prompts. If you have any problems subscribing or unsubscribing then send a message explaining the problem to: aherr@csu.edu.au Why Are We Here? The ABS list is a mailing list for members of the Australasian Bat Society to raise and discuss bat related issues. It also serves as information exchange network between the ABS members and the ABS executives. When you subscribe to ABS you will be able to: quickly and easily send messages to ABS members who have subscribed to this list; take part in on-line group discussions; make contact with other people with similar interests over long distances and without the hassle of working out time differences. The abs list is moderated by Alexander Herr (Herry), SEIS, Charles Sturt University. I can be emailed at aherr@csu.edu.au Guidelines Topics can be anything to do with the ABS. Commercial postings are NOT permitted except with my permission. Posting To post a message to the list, simply send it to: abs@listserv.csu.edu.au To prevent infomation from non-list members, abs is a 'moderated' list, which simply means you must be a subscriber to post, and you must be posting from your subscribed address. To see the collection of prior postings to the list, visit the ABS Archives. (The current archive is only available to the list members.)
Using ABS
To post a message to all the list members, send email to abs@listserv.csu.edu.au. You can subscribe to the list, or change your existing subscription, in the sections below.
Subscribing to ABS
Subscribe to ABS by filling out the following form. This is a closed list, which means your subscription will be held for approval. You will be notified of the list moderator's decision by email. This is also a private list, which means that the list of members is not available to non-members. Your email address:   Your name (optional):   You may enter a privacy password below. This provides only mild security, but should prevent others from messing with your subscription. Do not use a valuable password as it will occasionally be emailed back to you in cleartext. If you choose not to enter a password, one will be automatically generated for you, and it will be sent to you once you've confirmed your subscription. You can always request a mail-back of your password when you edit your personal options. Pick a password:   Reenter password to confirm:   Which language do you prefer to display your messages?
